The Palau de la Música Catalana concert hall is located in the Ribera district of Barcelona. The architect Lluis Domenech i Montaner is one of the leading representatives of Catalan Modernism.
Designing a store for this institution requires a clear and unambiguous concept that does justice to the design and aquitectura of the Palau. The entire interior is done according to a linear configuration as a result of a parallel arrangement of the longitudinal facade. The sale is focused on two essential elements: Large shelves built into a backlit wall cladded with perforated stainless steel showing a huge photography of the interior of the concert hall of the Palau and which attribute to the all over lighting of the shop. The huge glass cabinet which showcases the majority of products to sell and as well functions as a natural organizer for customer moves because of its central location. The way to apply different materials such as glass and perforated metal, evokes associations with the modernist manners and is clearly a reference to the handcrafted design of the Palau de la Musica Catalana. This intervention reinterprets the idea of ornament, not from historical-formalist mimicry, but through the use of contemporary materials, textures, colors, light and the way in which everything is assembled
