The design of the house is devellopped inside a Catalan farmhouse in ruins keeping all the outside perimeter of the building, yet in the deteriorated inside only four bays of structural walls are recovered. Therefore, and due to the functional program, the new building is set to the anatomy of the existing building. A new architectural body that fits all the available space between the bays leading to new programmatic situations. A new interior within an interior. The different areas of the house are volumetrically defined within the structure. Each one with its own wrapper, environment, use and dimension. Finally, a new symbiosis rises between architectural volumes and the existing physical boundaries that keep them “in captivity”. The existing building acquires a new reading, being reconfigured and transformed into an abstract and expressionistic space simultaneously. Can Passoles house , sales de Llierca, 2006
